Login at 9:50 AM — Not at 10:00 AM
Login to IRCTC at least 10 minutes before the booking window opens. Never wait until 10:00 AM. Clear your browser cache the night before. Keep only IRCTC open — close all other browser tabs and apps to free up memory.

The night before, search for your train route and date, select the train and Tatkal quota — then keep that tab open. On booking day, you just refresh and proceed directly. This eliminates the time spent searching at 10 AM.

Go Straight to Booking — Skip Availability Check
Don't waste time checking seat availability. If Tatkal seats are available, go directly to booking mode. Every additional page load costs precious seconds. Trust that seats exist at 10:00 AM and proceed to fill passenger details immediately.

Skip Travel Insurance Add-on During Checkout
IRCTC offers travel insurance at checkout — it's optional and adds an extra step with a loading screen. Uncheck it immediately and proceed. Travel insurance is worth having but book it separately after your ticket is confirmed.

⚠️ Tatkal Refund Policy — Know This Before Booking
No refund on confirmed Tatkal tickets upon cancellation. This is a hard rule — not negotiable. If your travel plan may change, do not book Tatkal. RAC Tatkal tickets get partial refund after deducting cancellation charges. Exception: If the train is cancelled by Railways or delayed 3+ hours, file TDR within 3 hours of departure for full refund.
ℹ️ Tatkal Booking Rules — Important
Maximum 4 passengers per PNR under Tatkal quota. Tatkal is available for all classes except First AC on some trains. No change of name is permitted on Tatkal bookings. Identity proof submitted at booking must match what you carry during travel — mismatches can result in fine or travel denial.
